Maria Varano's work experience starts with their role as a Hostess at The Whitney Restaurant from April 2009 to November 2012. Maria then worked as an Intern at Hoover and Associates Insurance and Financial Services, Inc. from November 2011 to August 2013. Maria gained teaching experience as a Substitute Teacher at Professional Educational Services Group, LLC from January 2016 to June 2016 and as a Program Assistant at Detroit PAL from June 2016 to August 2016. Maria then worked as a 4th Grade Teacher at Westside Christian Academy from August 2016 to June 2018.

In 2012, Maria started working at Alliance University, where they held multiple roles including Admissions Counselor's Assistant from September 2012 to May 2013, Peer Writing Consultant from May 2013 to December 2015, Undergraduate Coordinator from May 2014 to February 2015, and Student Blogger from January 2015 to December 2015.

From 2018 to 2022, Maria worked at WeWork, initially as a Community Associate from June 2018 to November 2019 and then as a Community Lead from November 2019 to June 2022. Their responsibilities included managing operations and member experience in a 90,000 sq. ft. co-working space with a focus on member retention and growth.

After WeWork, Maria worked as a Producer at Gunner from June 2022 to October 2022. Currently, they are employed as a Design Producer at Duolingo starting from October 2022.

Maria Varano earned a Bachelor's Degree in Childhood Education from Alliance University, where they studied from 2012 to 2015. In addition to their formal education, Maria has obtained several certifications, including "Creating a Culture of Change" from LinkedIn in January 2021, "Skills for Inclusive Conversations" from LinkedIn in December 2020, and "Giving and Receiving Feedback" from LinkedIn in September 2020.
