Emma Gibson

Educational Content Developer at Duolingo

Emma Gibson has a diverse work experience in various industries. Emma started their career in 2016 as a Graphics Coordinator at TVM: Student Television at McGill. In 2017, they worked as a Substitute Administrative Coordinator at Farmington Valley Arts Center and also served as a Graphic Designer at the Arts Undergraduate Society of McGill University. During the same year, they also began working as a Senior IT Assistant at McGill University.

In 2018, Emma joined the McGill Prosody Lab as an Undergraduate Research Assistant, where they conducted linguistic research on Experimental Phonetics, Prosody, and Intonation. Emma received the McGill Arts Undergraduate Research Internship Award in 2018 to fund their work, which later became their undergraduate thesis.

From 2015 to 2019, Emma worked as a Graphic Designer (Remote) and Online Specialist for The Green Teahouse. Emma also worked as a Freelance Graphic Designer & Illustrator on a self-employed basis during this time.

In 2019, Emma interned as a Naming Intern at Siegel+Gale. Emma then moved on to work briefly as an Associate, Brand Engagement at OptiBrand Rx in early 2020.

Their most recent position is as an Educational Content Developer at Duolingo, where they have been working since April 2020.

Emma Gibson completed their high school education from Hall High School between 2011 and 2015, earning a High School Diploma. Emma then pursued further education at McGill University, where they obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Linguistics between 2016 and 2019.
