Noel Murphy

Head Of The School Of Electronic Engineering at Dublin City University

Noel Murphy has been a prominent figure in the field of electronic engineering since joining Dublin City University in October 1985, where Noel currently serves as the Head of the School of Electronic Engineering and an Associate Professor. With a comprehensive academic and administrative portfolio, Noel has held various positions including Senior Lecturer, Head of School, Associate Dean for Education, and Chair of the Research Advisory Panel, while actively participating in governance through roles such as a member of the DCU Governing Authority and the Strategic Finance Advisory Subcommittee. Noel's expertise is complemented by a robust educational background, holding a PhD in Computer Vision/Information Theory/Biological Vision/Electronic Engineering from Dublin City University, as well as a Master's degree in Mathematics from Maynooth University and a Bachelor's degree in Theoretical Physics from Trinity College Dublin. Additionally, Noel contributed to the profession as a member of the Accreditation Board of Engineers Ireland from December 2007 to March 2021.
