Jim McAndrew has a wide range of work experience, starting in 2004 as an Assistant Programmer at ScenPro Inc. Jim then moved to National Instruments in 2006 as a Software Engineer, where they worked in R&D developing new features for TestStand, troubleshooting applications involving NI hardware and software, and teaching week-long customer education courses on NI software products. In 2008, they became a Senior Software Engineer at eRealInvestor, where they project managed several remote developers on a growing team in a fast-paced start-up environment, and developed client and server side financial analysis software for real estate professionals and investors. In 2010, they co-founded VisualizeROI, which enables sales and marketing professionals to demonstrate the ROI of investing in vendors' solutions. In 2013, they became the Director of Machine Learning and Principal Software Engineer at Advanced Search Labs. In 2014, they founded Autoflight Logic, created Autopilot, the first-ever app for DJI drones in the iOS App Store, and created Sync Solver for Fitbit, an iPhone app that syncs Fitbit data into Apple's Health app. Jim also co-founded PolyCraft World, a mod for MineCraft that teaches people about polymer chemistry. In 2016, they founded Hangar Technology, and in 2019, they founded Dronelink.
Jim McAndrew completed their Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering from The University of Texas at Dallas in 2004, having started in 2001. Jim then went on to pursue their Master's in Computer Science from the same university, which they completed in 2006.
