Derek Gruenhagen

Information Systems Security Engineer at Digital Hands

Derek Gruenhagen has a diverse work experience in information systems security engineering and system administration. Derek began their career in 1998 at IBM Global Services and was responsible for managing and troubleshooting various IT issues, as well as supporting and administering Windows servers. In 2005, they joined Harris Corporation as a Senior IS Security Engineer, where they focused on monitoring and mitigating threats to the company's network and providing 24/7 security operations. In 2015, Derek joined Digital Hands as an Information Systems Security Engineer, where they continue to apply their expertise in securing network infrastructure.

Derek Gruenhagen's education history includes a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Information Technology from Western Governors University, which they obtained from 2012 to 2015. Prior to that, they earned an AA degree in General Education from Eastern Florida State College, attending from 1996 to 1999. Before college, Derek Gruenhagen graduated from Merrit Island High School in 1996.

In addition to their degrees, Derek Gruenhagen has obtained various certifications. These include the Database Fundamentals (98-364) certification from Microsoft, Linux+ certification from CompTIA, CIW Database Design Specialist certification from CIWcertified, and Software Development Fundamentals (98-361) certification from Microsoft, all in 2014. In 2013, they earned certifications in Security+, CIW JavaScript Specialist, CIW Web Design Specialist, Network+, Web Development Fundamentals C# (98-363), Network Fundamentals (98-366), A+, Security Fundamentals (98-367), and CIW v5 Web Foundations Associate (1D0-610). In 2019, they received the Microsoft Certified Professional certification.

Derek Gruenhagen also possesses certifications in ITIL v3 w/ISO 20000 Compliance from ITIL Certified in 2009, Novell certification from Novell in 1999, and Dell Server certification from Dell in 1999.
