Gail Kamer Lieberfarb is a mental health advocate former investment advisor who brings financial and philanthropic expertise to Didi Hirsch’s Board of Directors, which she joined in 2010.
A leader in erasing the stigma associated with mental illness and in suicide prevention, she served as board chair and Director of the National Mental Health Awareness Campaign, which was launched as part of the 1999 White House Conference on Mental Health and reached millions with mental health education.
Its speaker’s bureau, the Heard, was the first peer-to-peer bureau in the country speaking to millions of middle school, high school and college students to promote dialogue and openness about mental health. The bureau continues today as part of Active Minds, a nonprofit with over 400 student-run chapters on college campuses in the United States. Lieberfarb is a member of Active Minds’ board.
Lieberfarb also has served on the Oversight Committee of the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology and as chair of Otis College of Art and Design’s finance committee. She and her husband, Warren, live in Brentwood.
