Fayrouz Azer

Executive Director, Diakon Family Reunification & Preservation at Diakon Lutheran Social Ministries

Fayrouz Azer is Executive Director of Diakon Family Reunification/Preservation, which encompasses Bucks, Delaware, Northampton and Lehigh counties of Pennsylvania:

Ms. Azer joined Diakon in 2016 and served as supervisor of the family reunification/preservation program for Bucks County, before her promotion to director of permanency in 2018 and executive director in 2021. In her previous roles, she was responsible for assisting with the expansion of regional services.

Before mid-2016, the family reunification and preservation programs were operated by Lutheran Children and Family Service of Eastern Pennsylvania, part of Liberty Lutheran. Earlier in 2016, Liberty—based near Philadelphia—made the difficult decision to end its children- and family-focused services. Ms. Azer worked for them as a case manager and supervisor since 1993 then made the transition over to Diakon when they began operation.

Ms. Azer earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Alexandria University in Egypt and a Master of School Counseling degree from Gwynedd Mercy College. She has been certified in drug and addiction counseling since 2015 from Villanova University and gained her trauma-competent professional certification in 2021 from Lakeside Global Institute.
