Rick Martinez has a diverse work history in the medical field. Rick is currently a Council Member at the Texas Surgical Society since 2022. Prior to that, they were the Program Director at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley starting in April 2022. Rick also served as the Medical Director for Surgical Services and Chief of Surgery at DHR Health since January 2022 and January 2021 respectively. Additionally, Rick Martinez held various positions at DHR Health, including Assistant Trauma Medical Director and Assistant Medical Director, from 2007 to 2015. Furthermore, they were a member of the Board of Governors at the American College of Surgeons since 2019. Rick Martinez’s career started at Surgical Associates at Renaissance, where they were the Managing Partner from 1993 to 2015.
Rick Martinez received their Doctor of Medicine degree from UT Health San Antonio in 1988. Rick then pursued a General Surgery Residency Program at Yale University School of Medicine from 1988 to 1993. In 2016, they furthered their education by earning a Masters degree in Health/Health Care Administration/Management from the Naveen Jindal School of Management at UT Dallas, completing their studies in 2018.
