David McDonnell serves as the Deputy Head of Mission at the Department of Foreign Affairs in Ireland since April 2021, following roles such as Second Secretary and Third Secretary within the Strategy, Governance and Change Unit. Prior experience at CarTrawler from September 2016 to April 2021 includes positions as Product Manager, Commercial Planning Specialist, and Project Manager, focusing on strategic initiatives and partner relationships in the travel industry. McDonnell’s early career featured roles at Leixlip House Hotel, where front-of-house responsibilities were handled, and teaching positions in Austria, delivering English language assistance to high school students. A Bachelor of Arts in German and Modern Irish was obtained from Trinity College Dublin, supplemented by further education at UCD Professional Academy and Griffith College Dublin.
