Claire McCarthy has a distinguished career in the Department of Foreign Affairs, Ireland, serving since October 2007 in various roles including Director of Human Resources, Consul General of Ireland in Austin, and Personnel Officer. McCarthy's previous positions within the department include assignments in Irish Aid, embassies in Kampala and Lusaka, and several strategic roles at headquarters, culminating in experience within the International Security Policy Section. Prior to this, McCarthy held the position of Deputy Director (Acting) for the Irish Abroad Unit and worked as the International Officer at the National Youth Council of Ireland. Educational qualifications include a Master's Degree in Women's Studies and a Bachelor's Degree in Law & European Studies from the University of Limerick, as well as a Master's Degree in Leadership & Strategy from the Institute of Public Administration (NUI).
