Meredith Ryder-Rude

Senior Advisor And Managing Director, Adaptation at U.S. Department of State

Meredith Ryder-Rude is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in climate adaptation and environmental policy. Currently serving as the Climate Adaptation Team Lead at the U.S. Department of State since July 2012, Meredith has held various roles including Regional Environment Officer and Lead Adaptation Negotiator. Previous experience includes directing community outreach efforts at Rooftop Roots DC, where fundraising strategies and financial models were developed to support urban gardening initiatives. As a Clean Energy and Climate Change Fellow with USAID in Kenya, Meredith promoted sustainable resource management and energy access. Additionally, Meredith's early career involved consulting for conservation organizations, interning with the U.S. Department of State on human rights reports, and contributing research for the International Labour Organization. Educational qualifications include a Master’s degree in International Economics and Energy and Environmental Policy from Johns Hopkins SAIS and a Bachelor’s degree in French and International Business from the College of Charleston.
