Hovakim Zakaryan has been working in the scientific field since 2013. Hovakim began as a Researcher at the Institute of Molecular Biology in Yerevan, Armenia, where they focused on the discovery and development of antiviral agents against African swine fever virus. In 2018, they took on the role of Project Leader at the Foundation for Armenian Science and Technology (FAST). Currently, they are a Co-Founder at Denovo Sciences.

Hovakim Zakaryan obtained a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Virology from the Institute of Molecular Biology in Armenia from 2010 to 2013. Prior to that, they obtained a Master's degree in Genetics from Yerevan State University from 2004 to 2010.
