Roderik Hoekstra has extensive experience in the field of civil engineering, particularly in hydraulic engineering and coastal dynamics. Since September 2010, Roderik has held various roles at Deltares, progressing from Junior Advisor/Researcher to Senior Advisor/Researcher. Roderik served as a Lecturer in Coastal Dynamics at TU Delft from January 2014 to September 2017, teaching a practical MSc course. Prior to this, Roderik completed a graduate studentship at Boskalis, focusing on the efficiency and feasibility of pulse nourishment in coastal protection as part of an MSc thesis co-supervised by notable organizations. Roderik's educational background includes a Master's and Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Delft University of Technology, complemented by pre-university education in Nature, Technology, and Health.
