Simon Smith, MCMI, is a highly experienced military professional currently enrolled as a student in the Advanced Command and Staff Course at the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom, starting in July 2023. Simon served as the Commanding Officer of the 30th Signal Regiment from January 2021 to June 2023, and prior to that held various significant roles including SO1 Capability Organisation at the UK Ministry of Defence, Chief of Staff at HQ 1 Signal Brigade, and Operations Officer at 30 Signal Regiment. With a strong background in Information and Communications Technology, Simon has managed teams of up to 125 ICT experts and has been involved in high-readiness global contingency operations. Educational qualifications include an MBA from the University of Staffordshire and ongoing studies for a Level 7 Extended Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership. Additionally, Simon holds certifications in ITIL Service Management and PRINCE2.
