Amy Caplan is an experienced Special Education Teacher with a strong background in managing specialized programs and supporting students with diverse needs across various educational settings. Currently employed at Deerfield Public Schools District 109 since August 2016, Amy has successfully led a district-wide program for students with behavioral challenges, implemented research-based interventions, and facilitated IEP meetings to foster student growth. Prior roles include teaching 2nd grade at Chicago Public Schools and serving as a Special Education Teacher at Catalyst Schools. Amy holds a Master’s degree in Special Education from National Louis University and an Education Endorsement from Concordia University Chicago, along with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Additional experience includes leadership roles in extracurricular programs and participation in Teach for America.
