Jerrod Barton has a diverse work experience in the field of cybersecurity and operations. Jerrod currently holds the position of Vice President, Cybersecurity Operations at Deepwatch, starting in October 2023. Before this role, they worked as a Sr. Director, Adversary Tactics & Intelligence, Director of Cybersecurity Operations, and Senior Director of Operations and Delivery at Deepwatch. Prior to joining Deepwatch, Jerrod held positions as a Squad Manager, Security Operations at Deepwatch, Founder at TekDefense, Program Manager of Digital Forensics & Incident Response at Tennessee Valley Authority, Lead Associate | Cyber Security Operations at Booz Allen Hamilton, Sr. Manager of Enterprise Engineering and Operations at Cloudswell, and Security Engineer, DoD at McAfee. Jerrod also served as a Team Lead, Host Based Security (HBSS) at Northrop Grumman, Information System Security Officer at Odyssey Systems Consulting, and served in the United States Marine Corps from August 1999 to July 2007 in various roles related to communications, tactical networks, and encryption.
Jerrod Barton earned a Bachelor's degree in Computer and Information Systems Security/Information Assurance from American InterContinental University, where they studied from 2013 to 2015. Prior to that, they attended Northern Virginia Community College from 2009 to 2011 and obtained an Applied Science Degree in Information Systems, as well as a Network Security and Network Engineering Career Studies Certificate. In addition to their formal education, Jerrod has obtained several certifications in the field of cybersecurity, including the GIAC Certified Forensic Analyst (GCFA), Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional (GICSP), Certified Ethical Hacker, Certified Information Systems Security Professional, Cisco Certified Network Associate, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, GIAC Certified Forensics Analyst, and GIAC Certified Intrusion Analyst.
