Jey Jeyakumar is an Entrepreneur in Residence (EiR) at Deep Science Ventures, where he assists in building startups in the Pharma/Life Science sectors. Jey began his career as a Research Fellow at the University of Oxford, where he developed a long-standing track record in the field of rare diseases, including Zavesca® for the treatment of lysosomal storage disorders (LSD).

He spent the next nine years working in small biotech companies, focusing on stem cell platform technologies, cell and gene therapy development, and regenerative drug screening. Before joining Deep Science Ventures, Jey served as a Scientific Director at Freeline Therapeutics for five years, where he led AAV therapeutic programs to the successful start of Phase 1/II clinical trials.

Jey holds a BSc in Biochemistry from the University of Sheffield and a DPhil from the University of Oxford (2000).
