Therese has been actively involved in the Debono Group since 1976 when Philip Debono, Therese’s husband, acquired the Toyota sewing machines brand. Therese displayed outstanding business prowess as the person responsible for the brand, and her efforts shaped the company’s success in this area of operation. Following the sudden passing of Philip in June 2002 at the age of 49, Therese took over the reins of the entire organisation. During her time at the helm of the Debono Group, with support from Toyota Great Britain, Therese evolved and grew the automotive business and helped maintain its market leader status. In 2005 Therese handed overall responsibility to Geoffrey, while remaining on as Chairperson, with an active role in the Debono Group. She today remains very involved at board level and is a driving force behind philanthropic activities which the organisation undertakes.
