Klaas Hartzema is an artist and experienced activities facilitator currently working with Arkin as a Kunstenaar and begeleider since December 2021, focusing on creative programs in various community settings. Since April 2017, Hartzema has served as an activiteitenbegeleider at Sherpa, providing personalized support for clients with intellectual disabilities and autism. Additionally, Hartzema has been involved with Stichting Volksbond Amsterdam since March 2016, assisting homeless individuals in areas of living, wellbeing, and daily activities. Ongoing work with Stichting Regenboog since March 2012 includes leading creative activities for visitors and offering support at a drop-in center for the homeless. Hartzema’s artistic career, ongoing since November 1985, includes contributions as a painter, illustrator, and sculptor, with notable exhibitions in Milan, Amsterdam, and Berlin, as well as book covers and wall paintings. Previous positions include supportive roles with HVO-Querido and the Gemeente Amsterdam's Dienst Werk en Inkomen. Hartzema holds a degree in persoonlijk begeleider and activiteitenbegeleider from Landstede MBO, completed in June 2021.
