Jacob Portes is an accomplished academic and research professional with a focus on machine learning and theoretical neuroscience. Currently serving as a Machine Learning Research Scientist at MosaicML x Databricks since August 2023, Jacob previously held the position of Research Scientist at MosaicML from July 2022 to October 2023. Jacob earned a Ph.D. in Theoretical Neuroscience from Columbia University, where studies were conducted from 2016 to 2022, after completing a Master's Degree in Philosophical Foundations of Physics between 2013 and 2016. Jacob also possesses a dual Bachelor's Degree in Physics and Philosophy from Stanford University, achieved in 2013. Previous research experiences include internships and assistant positions at esteemed institutions such as Columbia University and Stanford University.
