David Harkness has over 20 years of work experience in the technology industry. David began their career at Sierra Wireless Inc. in 1998 as a Staff Hardware Engineer, where they were a senior engineer and technical lead for a family of wireless modem products and a technical lead for a smartphone program. In 2006, they moved to Nokia as a Senior Baseband Design Engineer and Chief Engineer, Technical Lead of BB team for mobile cellular products at Vancouver Product Creation Site. David was also a member of local and global BB technical experts group and a technical lead for HW system architecture, HW/SW integration, and new technologies. From 2010 to 2013, they worked at Broadcom as a Principal Engineer, Hardware Development. David then moved to Recon Instruments Inc. as a Sr Embedded Systems Architect. In 2017, they joined Istuary Innovation Group as a Senior Hardware Manager and DamonXLabs, Damon Motors as a Senior Hardware Systems Architect. In 2021, they became VP of Engineering at Damon Motors Inc. and in 2022, they were appointed Director of Technology at Damon Motorcycles.

David Harkness obtained a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from Lakehead University between 1982 and 1984, with a focus on Electrical Engineering and Mathematics. Prior to that, they obtained a Diploma in Electronics Technology from the British Columbia Institute of Technology between 1975 and 1977, with a focus on Digital and Control Electronics.
