Anso Thom is an accomplished media professional with extensive experience in journalism and communications. Currently serving as Associate Editor at Daily Maverick since July 2019, Thom is engaged in a new project within the social justice field. Prior to this role, Thom was Head of Communications at SECTION27, which incorporated the AIDS Law Project, from June 2013 to July 2019. Thom also held the position of Print Editor at Health-e News Service from November 1999 to June 2013 and worked as a journalist at The Star Newspaper from 1995 to October 1999. Anso Thom holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication and Media Studies from the University of Johannesburg, completed over two years from 1987 to 1990.
