Iwan Roberts

Vice President, Technology And Innovation Strategy at Cytiva

Iwan Roberts has a diverse work experience spanning over a decade. Iwan began their career as an intern at IMS Consulting Group, where they worked on a Launch Excellence project for a pharmaceutical company. Iwan then served as an adviser at the Parliamentary Office of Science & Technology, analyzing public policy issues related to science and technology.

After this, Iwan joined University College London as a research engineer before co-founding Puridify, a nanofiber-based platform purification technology company. As the COO, they led the rapid expansion of the company through two venture capital rounds before it was acquired by GE Healthcare. At GE Healthcare, Iwan served as a Department Director, leading the integration process of Puridify into the larger multinational organization.

Following their time at GE Healthcare, Iwan held various positions at Cytiva. Iwan started as a Department Director before becoming a Business Development Director and then Senior Director of Open Innovation - Strategy, Search, Evaluation & Licensing. Currently, they serve as the Vice President of Technology and Innovation Strategy at Cytiva.

In addition to their corporate roles, Iwan has also worked as a visiting lecturer at UCL and has published a briefing note on low carbon technologies for energy-intensive industries during their time at the Parliamentary Office of Science & Technology.

Iwan Roberts has a strong education history in the field of engineering and biochemistry. Iwan holds an EngD (Engineering Doctorate) in Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cells from UCL. As part of their EngD, they took MBA electives at the London Business School. Iwan also has an MRes (Distinction) in Biochemical Engineering and an MEng (1st) in Biochemical Engineering, both from UCL.
