Christopher Barker has a diverse work experience that spans over 12 years. Christopher started their career in 2008 as an Electronic Warfare Technician in the UK Ministry of Defence, where they provided support and training in countering the threat of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) to the British Military. Christopher was responsible for fixing ECM equipment on defence armoured vehicles, conducting assurance checks, and delivering training to protect personnel during patrols in hostile territories.
In 2013, Christopher transitioned to the role of Communications System Engineer within the Ministry of Defence. Christopher established and maintained secure wide area networks, enabling the transmission of encrypted voice and data traffic over large distances using radio systems. Christopher also configured and maintained Cisco and Vocality routers and switches, utilizing their network engineering skills. During this time, they completed a Class 1 Communications Systems Engineering Course, which included modules on various technologies such as Cisco, Microsoft Server, Linux, and electronic and radio principles.
Since 2015, Christopher has been an Infrastructure Engineer in the UK Ministry of Defence. Christopher leads and supports a team of 20 infrastructure engineers who provide and maintain secure data communication systems to 100 staff. Christopher'sresponsibilities include Windows Server Domain Administration, Cisco Networking, and client support. Christopher also oversees the maintenance of Microsoft servers using Hyper-V and ensures the highest standard of critical equipment at all times.
In 2020, Christopher joined Perfect Image Ltd as an Infrastructure Engineer, where they continue to apply their expertise in infrastructure management and support.
Christopher Barker attended Bournemouth University from 2014 to 2015, where they focused on Communications System Engineering. Additionally, they obtained the ITIL Foundation Level certification from PeopleCert in November 2019.
