Helen Brownlow is a semi-retired teacher. She spent thirty-five years teaching in different schools both in England and in South America. In most of these schools, she fulfilled the role either of Deputy or Head of the English Department. Since 2020, she has worked part-time with small groups of pupils helping them develop their reading and writing skills.
Helen attended the East Anglian School and Culford between 1970 and 1970 which were the years that the two schools amalgamated: she watched the A14 being built from an upstairs window of Ripley Boarding House and towards the end of her school career enjoyed the splendid grounds of Culford.
Helen returned to Suffolk after working in Peru. She has lived in Fornham St. Martin for the last 20 years and enjoys all that the local area offers as well as its proximity to London which she visits regularly to meet friends and enjoy exhibitions, theatre, and music. She loves walking and swimming as well as attending to her garden. Quieter, indoor interests include cooking, sewing, knitting, crochet, and a lot of reading.
Helen is looking forward to being a member of the Board of Governors from September 2021.
