Hector Ortiz-Pena has a strong background in research and engineering. Hector began their career as a Systems Engineer at Raytheon in 2003, and over the course of two years, they were promoted to Systems Engineer II and then to Senior Systems Engineer I. In 2009, Hector joined CUBRC as a Software Engineer, where they worked for four years before transitioning to the role of Research Scientist. In 2015, they were promoted to Senior Research Scientist / Program Manager at CUBRC, a position they currently hold.
Hector Ortiz-Pena completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez from 1998 to 2003. Hector further pursued their education and obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California between 2004 and 2007. Lastly, from 2009 to 2014, they attended the University at Buffalo, where they successfully obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Operations Research.
