James Mills

Vice President, Operations & Business Intelligence at Disco

James Mills has extensive work experience spanning over several companies. James started their career at Dell as a Sales Representative in 2004 and then moved on to Ashlar-Vellum as an Email Marketing Coordinator from 2005 to 2007. Mills then joined All Web Leads, Inc. in 2009, where they held various roles including Data Operations Analyst, Senior Analyst, and Affiliate Marketing Manager. At All Web Leads, they contributed to the development of advanced bidding strategies, optimization methods, and reporting architecture.

In 2013, Mills joined Amherst Holdings, LLC as part of the Investment Research & Strategy team. James played a pivotal role in extracting strategic business value from large data sets and presented key insights to stakeholders, including high-level executives and regulators. During their time at Amherst Holdings, they provided insights for a closed-door meeting between the CEO and Ben Bernanke, which focused on the role of institutional investors in the housing market.

In 2018, Mills joined DISCO as the Director of Business Intelligence, where they built and transformed the Business Intelligence function. James led the creation of a centralized and replicable single version of the truth, which replaced the use of spreadsheets and siloed reporting. Mills also provided support on various corporate initiatives, ranging from sales commission planning to venture rounds and IPO. Later, they held roles as the Vice President of Business Insights & Analytics and currently serves as the Vice President of Operations & Business Intelligence at DISCO.

James Mills earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree with a double major in Finance and Marketing from the University of Houston. James attended the university from 2004 to 2008.
