Alvaro Amat has extensive experience in exhibition design and art education. Alvaro currently serves as the Head of Exhibition Design at the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, overseeing all indoor and outdoor installations and exhibitions. Prior to this, they held the position of Design Director and Exhibition Design Director at The Field Museum, where they directed the design of exhibition spaces and components. Amat also has experience in academia, having worked as an Adjunct Professor at Trinity Christian College and as a Lecturer at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Additionally, they have served in leadership roles, such as Vice President of the Board at the Batavia Artists Association at Water Street Studios. Amat began their career as a freelance architect and collaborator before transitioning into the field of exhibition design and art education.
Alvaro Amat holds a Bachelor's degree in Architecture from Universidad Nuevo Mundo, A.C., which they obtained from 1992 to 1997. Alvaro also has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Sculpture from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, which they earned from 2006 to 2007. Furthermore, Alvaro obtained a Master's degree in Art Education from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago from 2011 to 2013. Alvaro is also a certified architect, having obtained the certification from SecretarÃa de Educación Pública in 2004.
