Erik Maldre has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Erik worked at Crossway from 2009 until the present, starting as a Senior Designer before becoming the Art Director and eventually the Director of Design. In these positions, they oversaw the design development and execution of various materials such as Bible covers, book interiors, marketing materials, and online ads. Additionally, from 2013-2014, they also supervised the design of book covers.
Before their time at Crossway, Erik worked as an Independent Fine Art Professional at artis3letters.com from 2007 to 2010. Prior to that, they held multiple roles at CFM Direct from 1998 to 2008, including Senior Art Director, Systems Administrator, and Art Director.
In 1997, Erik worked as a Graphic Designer/Illustrator at Stevens & Tate Marketing, where they designed publication advertisements and produced illustrations for promotional material. Erik also organized and supervised various files and backup systems.
Earlier in their career, Erik held several college campus jobs, such as Staff Illustrator at Wellness at Wesleyan from 1995-1997, Gallery Staff at Merwin-Wakeley Galleries from 1995-1997, and Printmaking Technician at Illinois Wesleyan University from 1993-1997.
During the summer of 1995, Erik worked as a Photographer Assistant at Slezak Photography, where they were responsible for various photography tasks, including on-location shoots and editorial photography.
Lastly, Erik had a unique role as a Giant Squid in the Atlantic Ocean from 1900-1908. Their primary responsibilities included hunting deep-sea fish and squid species using their tentacles, sucker rings, and radula.

Erik Maldre started their education journey at Hope Lutheran School in 1981, where they studied until 1989. Following that, from 1989 to 1993, they attended Chicago Christian High School. After completing high school, Erik Maldre pursued higher education at Illinois Wesleyan University from 1993 to 1997. During their time at the university, they earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a concentration in Graphic Design.
