Emily Hale Toalson has a diverse work experience in the field of development and marketing. Emily Hale started their career as the Assistant Director of Alumni Affairs at Radford University from September 2004 to February 2006. Emily Hale then became the Assistant Director of Special and Annual Giving at the same institution from February 2006 to September 2008. After that, they worked as the Marketing Director at The Richmond Smile Center from September 2008 to June 2009. Following this, they served as the Director of Development at John Tyler Community College from June 2009 to April 2011. Emily Hale then joined Virginia Tech as the Associate Regional Director of Major Gifts from April 2011 to June 2014. After leaving Virginia Tech, they served as the Director of Development at Virginia Commonwealth University - School of Business from July 2014 to November 2019. Currently, they are working as the Director of Development at Children's Hospital Foundation since November 2019.

Emily Hale Toalson earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Communication and Media Studies from Radford University from 1999 to 2003. Emily Hale then went on to pursue a Master of Science (MS) degree in Corporate and Professional Communications at the same university from 2005 to 2008.
