Engineering Lead (Infrastructure) at Cowrywise

Abdulrahman Solanke has a diverse work experience in software engineering and infrastructure roles. Abdulrahman currently serves as the Engineering Lead (Infrastructure) at Cowrywise, where they take charge of developing and maintaining backend services and infrastructure on AWS. Abdulrahman has designed and implemented scalable architectures to support high-traffic applications and implemented containerized workflows using Docker Swarm and Traefik for efficient deployment and management of applications.

Prior to their role at Cowrywise, Abdulrahman worked as a Software Engineer at SALT - mysaltapp, where their responsibilities included developing and maintaining microservices using Golang and Django. Abdulrahman also played a key role in deploying and managing microservices using containerization tools like Docker and AWS ECS. Abdulrahman collaborated with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality and reliable software for financial services.

Before joining SALT - mysaltapp, Abdulrahman gained experience as a Software Engineer at Frontdoor, Inc., where they migrated services from Python to Golang Microservice. Abdulrahman built microservices using Golang, gRPC, and protobuf and deployed them on CaaS platforms like AWS ECS. Abdulrahman also wrote serverless functions using Kubeless.

Earlier in their career, Abdulrahman worked at Energy360 Africa Ltd as a Software Engineer. Abdulrahman led the development of the Smarteye application, a B2B solution that provides remote monitoring and data insight using IoT devices into storage tanks at retail Oil and Gas stations. Abdulrahman handled CI/CD for Smarteye using Jenkins and maintained the app on AWS. Additionally, Abdulrahman served as an Embedded Systems Engineer at Energy360 Africa Ltd, where they built an IoT solution to monitor fuel levels in storage tanks. Abdulrahman developed integration schematics and simulations for Microcontrollers and wrote custom Python and bash scripts to control legacy hardware devices.

Abdulrahman Solanke completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Lagos. Abdulrahman attended the university from 2013 to 2018. In addition to their degree, Abdulrahman has also obtained certifications in Amazon Web Services Solutions Architect - Associate from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in March 2023, and The Hacker's Guide to Scaling Python from Educative, Inc. in October 2022.
