Waqar Malik is an experienced professional in the fields of data science, engineering, and infrastructure strategy, currently serving as the Director of Data Science and Engineering at Coupang. Prior to this role, Malik worked at Facebook as a Senior Manager for Infrastructure Strategy and held various senior positions at NASA Ames Research Center as a Senior Scientist and Research Scientist. Additionally, Malik contributed to academia as an Adjunct Professor at UC Santa Cruz and served as a Research Associate at Texas A&M University. Malik holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on control theory, combinatorial optimization, graph theory, and unmanned vehicles, as well as a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering specializing in robotics and control, both obtained from Texas A&M University.
