Carel Cronenberg is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in sustainability and climate finance. Currently serving as a Senior Technical Advisor at the Council of Europe Development Bank since April 2022, Carel previously held the position of Associate Director and MRV Manager at EBRD from November 2012 to April 2022, where responsibilities included monitoring and reporting on sustainability performance aligned with the Paris Agreement. In addition, Carel coordinated the joint MDB report on Climate Finance from January 2016 to June 2021 and contributed as a guest lecturer at the University of Edinburgh Business School from 2014 to 2020, focusing on Climate Finance and EU sustainable finance policies. Carel has co-chaired the EU Technical Expert Group for Sustainable Finance's Taxonomy for the Manufacturing and ICT sectors and has a solid educational background, including a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Amsterdam and a Master's in Chemistry.
