Yongji Chen is an experienced professional in the field of visual effects and animation, currently serving as an instructor for a procedural modelling class at the University of the Incarnate Word since June 2024. With a strong background in FX artistry, Yongji Chen holds positions as FX lead artist and Houdini artist at CoSA VFX since January 2018, and as an FX artist at OppositeX since July 2015, focusing on Houdini FX development and 3D commercial work. Prior instructional experience includes teaching at Gnomon School of Visual Effects, Games + Animation from October 2021 to August 2022. Yongji Chen has also worked as a CG generalist and intern at Nice Shoes from August 2015 to January 2018. Yongji Chen earned a Master's Degree in Animation, Interactive Technology, Video Graphics, and Special Effects from the School of Visual Arts between 2013 and 2015.
