James worked as a Software Architect at SupportSoft from September 2004 to June 2009. James also worked as a Senior Developer at Core Networks from September 2000 to September 2004. James'searly career started as a Software Engineer at xwave after PRIOR Data Sciences was acquired by xwave in February 2000. James initially joined PRIOR Data Sciences as a Software Engineer in June 1996. James began their career in the software industry as a Software Analyst at IBM Canada Ltd. from May 1993 to June 1996.

James d'Eon obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Dalhousie University from 1986 to 1989. Following this, they pursued a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering from the Technical University of Nova Scotia (now part of Dalhousie University) between 1989 and 2003.
