Greg Murphy started their work experience in 2011 as a self-employed general contractor, specializing in home improvement. Greg worked in this role until 2013. From 2014 to 2019, they were employed by Caldwell and Walsh Building Construction as a Construction Superintendent. Following this, they joined Empire General Contracting in 2019 as an Assistant Project Manager until June 2023. In 2022, Greg co-founded The Builder Project. Currently, they are working as a Project Manager at Consigli Construction Co., Inc. since May 2023.

Greg Murphy's education history begins with their Associate's degree in Health and Physical Education/Fitness, which they obtained from Manchester Community College from 2007 to 2009. Following this, they pursued a Bachelor's degree in the same field of study at Eastern Connecticut State University from 2009 to 2012. Greg's educational journey continued, and from 2020 to 2023, they obtained a Master's degree in Construction Management from the Wentworth Institute of Technology.
