Samirah Jaigirdar joined the Connecticut College Board of Trustees as a Young Alumni Trustee in 2022.
Originally from Bangladesh, Jaigirdar double majored in International Relations and Global Islamic Studies, minored in Arabic Studies, and was a CISLA scholar. In 2021, she received the Jay Levin ā73 Exemplary Leadership Award for service to the College and the Global Islamic Studies Junior Prize for outstanding achievement in the major. During her sophomore summer, Jaigirdar studied Arabic at the Middlebury Language School and since that time served as a research assistant and teacherās assistant in the Global Islamic Studies department where she transcribed primary sources, conducted research with Professor Uddin, and reviewed papers and taught students how to properly structure a paper. Through the International Relations department, Jaigirdar developed a 3-year integrated research project titled āTearing Down the FaƧade: Power, Realism, and the War on Terrorā which she presented at the All-College Symposium.
