Chris DeRienzo, MD, MPP, currently serves as the Chief Physician Executive for the American Hospital Association since 2022, contributing to national advocacy and policy development focused on clinical issues, patient safety, and population health. In addition, Chris has held leadership roles such as President of the Health Research & Educational Trust, and serves on the board of Mednition and as an advisor to Concord Health Partners. Other notable positions include System Chief Medical Officer for WakeMed and Senior Scholar at Stanford Clinical Excellence Research Center. Chris's academic background includes an MD and MPP from Duke University, complemented by a B.S. from Brandeis University.
