Ratshi Maphwanya

Ratshi Maphwanya is a seasoned economist with extensive experience in competition policy and economic analysis. Currently serving as a Principal Analyst at The Competition Commission South Africa since April 2023, Ratshi previously held the position of Senior Economist at the South African Reserve Bank, where responsibilities included research on competition policy in financial services and climate change. Ratshi's career at The Competition Commission began in 2011, progressing from Junior Economist to Principal Analyst, leading teams in the analysis of mergers and acquisitions while contributing to the Management Committee. Educational credentials include an MBA and a Post Graduate Diploma in General Management from GIBS Business School, an M.Com in Economics from the University of Johannesburg, and a B.Com in Economics from the University of Limpopo, among other qualifications in quantitative methods for competition analysis.
