Lilia Schwarcz is a prominent figure in academia and the arts, currently serving as a lecturer and professor in the Department of Anthropology at the Universidade de São Paulo since 2005. Schwarcz has held various significant roles, including columnist for Nexo Jornal and associate curator for histories and narratives at the Museu de Arte de São Paulo Assis Chateaubriand since 2015, as well as a Global Scholar and visiting professor at Princeton University. Additionally, Schwarcz is a founding editor at Companhia das Letras and a member of the Scientific Council at the Instituto de Estudos Avançados da UFMG. With a doctorate in Social Anthropology from USP, obtained between 1976 and 1980, Schwarcz has been actively giving lectures since 2010.
