Anthony So

Director at Community Catalyst

Anthony So is Director of the IDEA (Innovation + Design Enabling Access) Initiative and the second Professor of the Practice at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. He is the thematic lead for the Transformative Technologies and Institutions arm of the recently launched Johns Hopkins Alliance for a Healthier World, which strives for multidisciplinary collaboration to advance health equity. Anthony is also director of the Strategic Policy Program of ReAct - Action on Antibiotic Resistance, a global network dedicated to meeting the challenge of antibiotic resistance. He was previously the director of the Program on Global Health and Technology Access at Duke University's Sanford Institute of Public Policy, where he also directed the Global Health Fellows Program. He was associate director of the Rockefeller Foundation's Health Equity program, where he shaped the Foundation's work on access to medicines policy in developing countries, particularly for HIV/AIDS, co-founded a program exploring the role of intellectual property rights in innovation and access, and launched the "Trading Tobacco for Health" initiative. Anthony previously directed the activities of the Liaison Office for Quality from 1997 to 1998 at the Agency for Health Care Policy and Research, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. He supported Secretary Donna Shalala in her role as co-chair of a Presidential Advisory Commission focused on improving the quality of health care for all Americans.
