Tom Trevethan has extensive experience in various research and development roles. Tom started their career in 2005 as a Research Fellow at the London Centre for Nanotechnology, where they developed models and simulation software for molecular computing projects. From 2009 to 2011, they worked as an Assistant Professor at Tohoku University, leading research projects in computational nanoscience. At the University of Surrey, they served as a Research Fellow from 2011 to 2016, focusing on modeling and simulation of irradiation damage in nuclear materials. Trevethan then joined nChain in 2016 as an R&D Specialist, specializing in cryptography, distributed systems, and blockchain technology. Currently, they are the CTO at CommerceBlock, where they oversee the technical aspects of the company.
Tom Trevethan obtained a MSci degree in Physics from UCL between 1998 and 2002. Tom then pursued further education and completed a PhD in Physics at King's College London from 2002 to 2005. In 2015, Tom obtained a Graduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching from the University of Surrey.
