Daniel To

Manager - Product Development at Colorcon

Daniel To has extensive work experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Daniel started their career as a Postdoctoral fellow at Colorcon™ in 2012, where they supported the development and launch of new film coating products. Daniel implemented novel material characterization techniques and generated application data to better understand key attributes influencing moisture barrier performance. Daniel then transitioned to the role of Senior Product Development Scientist, where they generated application data to support current and new film coating products, evaluated the use of a pH-independent taste masking platform, and developed a novel method to characterize the moisture barrier performance of film coatings on tablets.

In 2013, Daniel was promoted to Principal Scientist at Colorcon™, leading a team through product development, scale-up, stability, and tech transfer to launch new film coating products. Under their leadership, two products with patent protection were successfully launched, and additional products were in progress. Daniel also mentored junior colleagues to develop their skills and knowledge.

In 2017, Daniel took on the role of Manager - Product Development at Colorcon™, where they inspired and led a team of scientists to innovate, turn ideas into prototypes, and progress through the product development and commercialization process. Daniel also led interdepartmental teams to support product launches, mentored scientists to grow their technical, analytical, and communication skills, and contributed to the achievement of company objectives.

Prior to joining Colorcon™, Daniel worked as a Research Associate at the New Jersey Center for Engineered Particulates from 2010 to 2012. Daniel led a team on two projects funded by a pharmaceutical solutions company, focusing on incorporating particle engineering technology into pharmaceutical products. The projects involved producing dry composite powders and taste-masked drug particles while enhancing bioavailability and reducing particle size.

Overall, Daniel To has demonstrated strong leadership skills, a track record of successful product launches, and a depth of knowledge in film coating products and particle engineering in the pharmaceutical industry.

Daniel To received their Bachelor of Engineering degree in Chemical Engineering from The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art, where they attended from 2000 to 2004. Daniel then went on to pursue further education, earning a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology from 2006 to 2011.
