Elkie Burnside currently serves as an Online Learning Team Instructional Designer at the Collaborative for Educational Services, a position held since November 2023. With extensive editorial experience, Elkie has contributed to Kairos: A Journal of Rhetoric, Technology, and Pedagogy since August 2008, serving in various editorial roles, including Section Co-Editor. A scholarly background includes serving as Associate Director of the Writing Program at the University of Massachusetts Amherst from August 2020 to August 2023, and prior academic roles as Associate Professor at The University of Findlay, among others. Elkie's instructional design expertise is complemented by previous positions as an instructional contractor and developer for IFSTA and other organizations, where curriculum development and assessment item creation were key responsibilities. Elkie holds a PhD in English with a focus on Rhetoric and Professional Writing from Oklahoma State University, as well as an MA in Literature and a Bachelor's degree in Bible/Youth Ministry.
