Rhys Smithson is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in indirect tax management and local governance. Currently serving as the Director of Indirect Tax at WeWork since October 2022 and holding a council-appointed Directorship at Colchester Borough Homes, Rhys is also an elected Councillor for Colchester Borough Council since May 2022. Previous roles include Director of Indirect Taxes at Huawei Technologies and BT, where responsibility encompassed global indirect tax strategies. Rhys has also contributed to political and community efforts as Deputy Chairman of the Witham Constituency Conservative Association and as a volunteer with the Essex Voluntary Blood Service. Educational background includes attendance at Sheppey Comprehensive.
