Alexandra Varela PhD, LPC, ACS, NCC, is a highly experienced psychotherapist currently serving as the Director of the Center for Research at Cognitive Behavior Institute since July 2018, where responsibilities include conducting individual and marriage therapy and overseeing IRB activities. In addition to private practice, Alexandra holds an adjunct professor position at Westminster College and has previously taught at Carlow University. Prior roles include providing drug and alcohol counseling at Allegheny County Jail and Corizon Health, along with serving internships focused on counseling at various facilities, including juvenile services and hospitals. Alexandra earned a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from Duquesne University, a M.Ed. in Counselor Education from the University of New Orleans, and a B.S. in Psychology from the same institution.
