Terje Mathisen's work experience includes various roles in engineering and leadership positions. Terje worked as a Research Engineer at SINTEF from 1981 to 1984. Terje then joined Hydro and served as a Senior Engineer from 1984 to 1991. Terje worked at Novell, System Engineering Division as a Senior Engineer from 1991 to 1992. Terje then returned to Hydro as a Senior Engineer from 1992 to 1999. Terje later joined Hydro IS Partner as a Chief Engineer and worked there from 1999 to 2008. From 2008 to 2012, Terje worked as a Chief Engineer at EDB Business Partner. Terje served as a Chief Engineer at EVRY ASA from 2012 to 2015. Terje also worked at Open iT, Inc. as the Chief Technology Officer from 2015 to 2020. Currently, they are employed as a Principal Software Engineer at Cognite AS starting from August 2020.

Terje Mathisen earned a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Electrical Engineering from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) between 1977 and 1981.
