Ian Abbott has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Ian started their career in 2008 as a Sports Editor at the Ellensburg Daily Record, where they were responsible for creating content, conducting interviews, managing web content, and enhancing the newspaper's football tab. From 2010 to 2011, they worked as an Assistant Sports Editor at the Odessa American, where they interviewed experts, conducted research, and wrote articles for a general audience. In the same year, they also worked as a QA Tester (Part-Time/Contract) at VMC Consulting, where they tested hardware and software for the Xbox 360 console. In 2011, they joined Fluor-B&W Portsmouth LLC as a Technical Writer/Editor, where they wrote and edited technical and administrative documents for a nuclear facility. As a Sr. Product Manager at Codal Inc. since 2021, they have been responsible for managing and developing strategies for customer adoption and success. Prior to this role, they worked as a Product Manager at Codal Inc. from 2018 to 2021. From 2013 to 2018, they worked at SumTotal Systems, LLC, first as a Technical Writer II and then as a Product Manager. In these roles, they developed and maintained documentation, researched technical specifications, and collaborated with cross-functional teams.
Ian Abbott attended Ohio University from 2004 to 2008 where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication, Journalism, and Related Programs. In addition to their degree, Abbott also holds two certifications: Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) obtained from the Scrum Alliance in August 2020, and Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) obtained from the Scrum Alliance in March 2020.
