Tiasia O'Brien M.A. has a diverse work experience spanning several industries and roles. Starting in 2013, they served as the Director of Marketing & Fundraising for the Learning Disabilities Association New York City, where they were responsible for creating and managing digital marketing, fundraising, and communications strategies. Tiasia also oversaw a team of four employees and managed a budget of $1 million.
In 2014, Tiasia moved on to become a Grants Manager at The THRIVE Network, where they coordinated internal fundraising events and played a key role in the company's rebranding efforts. Tiasia leveraged their professional relationships to enhance public outreach opportunities and ensured the distribution of new marketing collateral.
Tiasia then founded MM Brand Consultation in 2007, a boutique brand management firm specializing in developing and fostering a brand's design, essence, and implementation. Tiasia successfully marketed and sold a range of marketing services, including brand awareness campaigns and promotional event services.
From 2015 to 2017, Tiasia worked at MoCADA - Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Art in various roles. As a Strategy & Business Development Consultant, they provided strategic direction and growth for the organization's fundraising initiatives. As an Associate Development Director, they managed the implementation of the organization's cultivation strategy and revenue forecast, maximizing partnerships and producing development and financial goals.
Tiasia served as the Director Of Development And Communications at Groundswell from 2017 to 2018, where they played a crucial role in the organization's development and communication efforts.
In 2020, Tiasia took on the role of Inclusive Philanthropy Officer at Compassion & Choices, where they championed inclusive philanthropy and played a vital role in advancing the organization's mission.
Furthermore, they were an Adjunct Professor at John Jay College (CUNY) from 2020 to 2021, where they shared their expertise in a teaching capacity.
Tiasia also served as a Fellow at Urban Design Forum, starting in 2020, where they contributed their insights and experiences to the organization's initiatives.
Most recently, in 2022, they joined Ganas Ventures as a Scout, utilizing their skills and knowledge to identify new opportunities for the company.
Tiasia O'Brien M.A. completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from Adelphi University from 2004 to 2008. Tiasia then pursued further education at New York University, where they obtained an Advanced Diploma in Business Intelligence Analytics in 2017. Following this, they attended The New School from 2018 to 2020, earning a Master of Arts degree in Sociology. Additionally, Tiasia obtained a certification in Philanthropy & Fundraising from New York University in January 2015.
