Head of Materials Research & Development at COBOD International

Stephan Z. has a diverse work experience across various companies and roles. Stephan currently works at COBOD International, where they hold the position of Head of Materials Research & Development since April 2022. Prior to this, they worked as a Materials Specialist at the same company from November 2021 to April 2022.

Before joining COBOD International, Stephan worked at Witteveen+Bos as a Project Engineer for Digital Construction from March 2020 to October 2020. In this role, they were a member of the Digital Construction Team and was responsible for finite element modeling, analysis, and detailing of reinforced concrete structures using software tools like DIANA FEA and SCIA Engineer.

Stephan's earlier work experience includes various roles at Stellenbosch University. Stephan served as a Lecturer for Applied Mathematics B154 from July 2019 to November 2019, and as a Lecturer for Strength of Materials 224 from January 2019 to June 2019. Stephan also worked as a Laboratory Manager for the Structure & Building Materials Lab from May 2013 to June 2019. In this role, they conducted lab inductions, trained and supervised students in experimental research, and managed the lab's schedule, budget, maintenance, and inventory. Stephan also worked as a Teaching Assistant for Strength of Materials 224 from January 2018 to June 2018, and for Theory of Structures 324 & 354 from January 2011 to December 2013.

Stephan Z. began their education by obtaining a Senior Certificate from the Department of Education in South Africa in December 2006. Stephan then attended Stellenbosch University from 2007 to 2010, where they earned a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree in Civil Engineering, graduating with honors (cum laude). After completing their undergraduate studies, Stephan Z. continued their education at Stellenbosch University from 2011 to 2017, pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Civil Engineering. Stephan successfully obtained their PhD in December 2017.
